Grade: Level 2. A description of the ride level can be found here.
Suitability: This level is primarily aimed at qualified Members and those Associates who have a good understanding of Advanced Riding, have had several development sessions with their Observer and want to take the opportunity to practice their skills between observed rides.
Details: This year’s Brecon Bash is now open for registration. The event takes place over three days and is open to IAM RoadSmart Solent members and associates.
The first part of the ride is up to south Wales through Wiltshire and Gloustershire for a late lunch at The Telegraph Diner in Llangadog, SA19 9LS.
Accommodation for the weekend is at The Star Bunkhouse in Bwlch, LD3 7RQ. Bedding is provided but please bring your own towel.
Evening meals will be taken in the New Inn opposite the bunkhouse.
On the Saturday morning, it’s a ride out for breakfast to the Bookish Cafe in Crickhowell before making our way out onto the great roads of mid-Wales for the day.
Sunday follows a similar pattern with a ride out for breakfast before making the way home.
The itinerary for the weekend is planned to include some of the highlights of the Welsh countryside:
Elan Valley
Gospel Pass
Devil’s Bridge
River Usk river route
and, hopefully, a trip to the Penderyn Brecons Distillery.
The accommodation is £40 per person for the 2 nights (£20 pppn) on an accommodation only basis.
