Group Ride Saturday 20th July 2024
Group ride with Alec Gore.
12 riders participated in Alec's 79-mile Saturday Cafe run to Ginny's Cafe at Boyton, near
Warminster. After a little drizzle at the start, the weather turned out ideal for riding, cooler
after Friday's heatwave and overcast so there was no sun in your eyes. The route took us
through Stockbridge, out over Salisbury Plain through Bulford Camp and to Sutton Veny near
Warminster. Then we used the lovely twisty and undulating road down to the cafe at Boyton.
It's well worth a visit, has plenty of parking and includes art and craft shops as well. It's also
popular with cyclists; fortunately only a few on our visit.
We stayed on the same road down through the Langfords to Stoford and over the downs through the Welfords and Old Sarum, then through Ford to the A30 from where it was a straight run back to Stockbridge. We stopped for a photo on the way - a happy bunch on a very enjoyable ride!
Thanks to Nick Lee for looking after the tail end.
